When I sit back and look at the numerous social issues Liberals champion, it strikes me that their sense of legality may be askew.  Most Liberals want to legalize Marijuana but detest cigarette smokers.

Liberals vilify cigarette smokers for assaulting our nostrils with their poison but I have not heard a peep out of any of them about second hand Marijuana smoke.  Both types of second-hand smoke are killers.  One infiltrates your lungs and gives you an insidious disease the other gives you the munchies and puts a chink on another Liberal darling: the war on obesity.

Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg must be upset.  He famously tried to outlaw 16-ounce sodas because soda makes us fat.  Liberals lauded his compassion for overweight Americans and his desire to save them but .apparently do not care of the impact of Marijuana smoking.

I am not a smoker or stoner.  I never was and never will be but I do take offense that Liberals portray something legal as evil and something illegal as progressive.  I guess I should not be surprised based on the way they glamorize illegal immigration versus those immigrants who enter the country the right way.

A hate crime is the best way to outrage a Liberal because I guess regular murder does not rate as high.  In both cases, the victim is dead but Liberals can get more mileage debasing a person who killed another person out of hate.  Read that line again and think about it.  All murders are borne in hate.

Global Warming is another hot topic for Liberals but I suspect it has more to do with the donors to their campaigns than actual worry about the environment.  I guess the apple of a Liberal’s eye is an illegal immigrant that smokes marijuana but hates soda and believes in Global Warming but is the unfortunate victim of a hate crime.

This blog has gone way of topic but I was taking a page out of the Liberal playbook.  All politicians should forget the issues that only matter to their donors and focus on the two things that matter most to Americans: the economy and jobs.

When people are convinced something is wrong, it compels action.  At times, the action is radical and other times it is measured.  The plan of action typically depends on the nature of the situation.

Our Founding Fathers felt revolting against a tyrant nation was the best course of action and only the most Liberal revisionists will argue otherwise.  Other times waiting out the situation is the best decision like President Kennedy did at the Bay of Pigs.

Today’s mainstream media will have the uninformed believe anyone who tries to shut the government down requires a seat next to Darth Vader of the Evil Empire.  The media portrays any politician who wants to restore fiscal sense to the chaos we call Washington, DC as a Right Wing Whacko.

Make no mistake about it; there are Right Wing Whackos in equal number to Left Wing Nut Jobs, but not when it comes to fiscal policy and stemming the budget deficit and our nation’s debt.  In this regard, I expect our elected officials to fight anything resembling deficit spending or that contributes to the debt.

In fact, I think the most important issue these idiots in Washington, DC must address is managing the budget.  This is not rocket science.  You can only spend what you earn.  If you cannot cut expenses, you must increase revenue.  If you can’t increase revenue then you must cut expenses.

Based on the results I see coming from our nation’s capital, I guess there are reasons smart people become rocket scientists and lawyers become politicians.

Congress passed a resolution to raise the federal credit limit past its $17.3 trillion debt load.  It extends the government’s ability to borrow money through March 15, 2015 – well beyond the mid-term elections in November.  The vote was 221-201 with 29 Republicans caving in and voting with all but two Democrats.

The cowardly Republicans had their reasons that mostly orbit around getting re-elected but I think we need to send a message and November is our only opportunity to send it.  I urge voters to vote the bums out and replace them with anyone willing to fight for the American Society.  If that means a government shut down so be it.  It is the only stick Congress has to save the nation.

President Clinton read the tea leaves and moved to the center when Newt Gringrich took Congress by storm in the 90s.  The nation prospered.  It can be done.

The two Democrats who voted against the measure were Jim Matheson (D-Utah) and John Barrow (D-Ga.).

The people did not want the law.  In fact, they demonstrated against it but their protests fell on deaf ears.  This was in 1920 when the eighteenth amendment prohibited “the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes

Prohibition began because those in the Federal Government imposed their will upon the populace.  It was repealed in 1933 after wealthy Americans worked to elect Congressmen who agreed to support the repeal.

I guess that is why President Obama and his cronies despise the top one percent of the population and feverishly work to rid them of their wealth.

The playbook for the voting public to get a government for the people was written more than 80 years ago.  Finance those officials who share the majority viewpoint and get rid of incumbents whose only true talent is pandering.

The Liberals have no place to hide.  They inflicted Obamacare on a public who overwhelmingly does not want or need this debacle.   The Republicans have no backbone to do the right thing and defund Obamacare because the media will portray them negatively.

I suggest we become zealots to rid the Congress and Senate of any and all politicians who support Obamacare.  If this concept becomes a credible threat they will retreat faster than A&E can say Duck Dynasty.

Interestingly, Liberals took the lead to repeal Prohibition with the twenty-first amendment.  I guess after thinking about it Liberals felt bad they confiscated the “right” to get drunk and have a good time.  Ironically, Liberals are the ones who are to blame for Obamacare and show no desire to correct the wrong.

Maybe Liberals will act in favor of the majority if we appeal to their sense of decency to allow us to have a good time on medicinal marijuana and repeal Obamacare.  I think it will do no good because they don’t have the right medical plan to handle deaf ears.

Liberals have ruined the American Spirit I grew up admiring.  They have not accomplished this feat alone.  They had help from an agenda driven media and weak-willed Republicans eager to cash in votes from fad politics.  The American Spirit I grew up admiring included self-reliance, rugged individualism, and accountability for one’s actions.

Liberals replaced those traits with victimization, demagoguery against the wealthy, and a blameless sub-section of society.  They disguise victimization as political correctness, wealth re-distribution as fairness, and compassion for creating blamelessness.  Those in the mainstream media seize upon these talking points and shell-shocked Republicans co-op the ideas with the hope of looking less conservative.

I have no issue with a zealot Liberal providing he or she has the conviction to live what they say.  If they truly believe the wealthy are to blame for the country’s woes then they should look in the mirror since most Liberals in congress and the senate are millionaires.  Let’s see them give up 50 percent of their wealth to government programs for the poor.

A Liberal is a Liberal until something affects them; then they take on strikingly similar characteristics of the people the rail against and paint as evil.  How many Liberal congressional representatives and senators shelter their wealth?  A governing body that exempts itself from its own laws has no credibility.

Raise your hand if you want to be a racist, bigot, or sexist.  Not many people aspire to that throne.   Liberals will use those epithets against anyone who dares suggest people be held accountable for their actions.

Richard Sherman becomes a media darling when he opined the use of the word “thug” is an acceptable way of using the “N” word.  Sherman may be a nice guy but he acted like a thug when thrashing Michael Crabtree after a football game.  If he acted like a thug and poor winner people will call him that.  If he wants to be known as anything else let him act it!  Instead, Sherman wants the right to spout off but not the responsibility of the fallout.  Life doesn’t work that way.

Liberals portray wealthy Americans as greedy capitalists willing to step on the little guy to make an extra buck.  How is that characterization of a certain portion of our population any different than stereotypes of African Americans, Italians, Hispanics, or any other ethnic group? For that matter, how is the characterization of those on foods stamps as lazy leaches any better?

The media chastises Conservatives for their portrayal of food stamp recipients but give Liberals a pass on their portrayal of wealthy Americans.  Liberals infiltrated schools handcuffing teachers from truly assessing their students because we mustn’t make failing students feel bad. Is it better to make a child feel bad about failing a course or to start his downfall by not preparing him properly for life?

It seems to me the two political parties are broken.  The Fourth Estate is still in a free fall blaming the Internet for its woes.  Much like rich Liberals, those in media should look in the mirror to find the answer to their troubles.  If the mainstream media actually reported the news objectively, the desire for an alternative would never have been born.

If Liberals would be open to alternative views versus forcing their views on the masses, the desire for an alternative would not grow.  If “moderate” Republicans had a backbone and believed in their true views, there would be no Tea Party.  The extremes are never the answer.  Neither is the middle.

Life is cause and effect.

The big tent the Democrats live in cannot hold the extreme left and centrists.  The Republican Party is going to implode before Conservatives and Moderates make nice.  I think it’s time the country move to a three party system.  The Conservatives can play on the Right; the Liberals on the Left, and Moderates/Independents in the middle.  This way each party can put forth platforms their entire body can support.  Let’s see who the American public really wants as leaders.

This past Friday, The New York Times broke a story that the Port Authority executive who ordered the lane closures at the George Washington Bridge said “evidence exists” that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie knew about the traffic jam while it was happening.

I have a confession.  I knew about it too.  Me and 10 million other commuters.

I found out that day on the radio from a helicopter traffic reporter who cautioned drivers to reroute to the Lincoln Tunnel.  The evidence has yet to surface as to when and how the Governor found out (He said he learned in hindsight); but it would be a greater crime if that morning he listened to Howard Stern on Sirius XM, which hardly ever breaks for traffic reports.

The core of the story is a letter from attorney Alan Zegas who represents disgraced former Port Authority honcho and Christie associate David Wildstein.  Zegas’s letter dangles the prospect of smoking gun information in exchange for putting taxpayers on the hook for his legal fees, as well as immunity from prosecution for his client who took the Fifth in state legislative committee hearings on the matter.

But in its ongoing effort to have a bigger dog pile on the Governor than a Michael Vick Cinco de Mayo party, The Times ran the story without fully vetting the accounts, and it doesn’t seem to be at all concerned about inaccuracies laced through the posted copy.  The Governor’s office slammed The Times’ story in a statement the next day pointing out the paper so misrepresented the letter’s contents that it changed the lead almost immediately.  But by then it was too late as the story went viral and was picked up nationally.

The Governor’s statement also noted the paper was roundly criticized, and its editor was forced to issue this extraordinary statement to the Huffington Post:

“We’ve made probably dozens of changes to the story to make it more precise.  That was one of them.  I bet there will be dozens more.”

The fact-fudged story spawned a wave of tweets, blogs, columns, editorials and Sunday news bloviators who chimed in on the consistent theme, “Oh boy, Fatso’s in for it now!  Stick a fork in his presidential ambitions because he’s done.  Save me a seat at the impeachment/hanging.”

I’ve worked in news rooms and I know the pressures of getting a story out before the competition.  It’s especially competitive in the always-on news cycle of the internet.  But what about getting it right?  Or close to accurate on the second rewrite?  The laissez-faire approach by The Times’ editor to getting the story right eventually doesn’t quite rise up to the press’s Jeffersonian obligation for an informed public.

Thank goodness America’s paper of record is showing more journalistic prudence by holding back its reporting about Hillary’s Benghazi negligence, the IRS’s assault on Tea Parties’ freedom of speech, on NSA spying on other journalists let alone citizens, on the Obamacare debacle, on the reconstitution of Al Qaeda in Syria, Iraq, Somalia and Afghanistan, among others.  The editors obviously want to wait until the Administration’s stonewalling on these matters ends and it gets its stories straight.  Otherwise, readers would get the wrong impression.

A week ago, you would have thought that every time the Yankees win a home game we should expect the stadium public address system blast the recording of Frank Sinatra singing, “New York, New York Uber Alles.”

Thankfully, that’s not going to happen, and for that we can thank the legendary indifference of the average New Yorker.

It’s been over two weeks since three of New York State’s top political figures found cloistered forums to complain about a group of “undesirables” living among them who are responsible for all the state’s problems.  To hear the politicos, these undesirables are a mere sliver of the population yet they control all of New York’s industry, hoard all its wealth, and produce a monstrous level of income inequality for those who choose to rely on government for their sustenance.  Most criminal of all, New York’s leaders said, too many of these undesirables — these Conservatives — are being elected to government positions in open and fair elections.

That must not stand.

Governor Andrew Cuomo (D – NY) kicked off the coordinated attack by invoking his inner Rudolf Hess to call for a purging of his political and ideological opponents.  (NOTE TO OUR READERS IN DUBUQUE, IOWA:  Hess was an author of the 1933 Nuremberg Laws promoting Aryan racial and political purity designed to rescind civil rights for German Jews and lay the groundwork for the pan-European deportation of all ‘enemies of the state’.)

In an interview with a public radio and TV station, Governor Cuomo essentially said that those who opposed his Progressive views must leave New York because they were scaring the upstate livestock as well as the citizenry.

“Who are they? Are they these extreme Conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that’s who they are and if they are the extreme Conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

Pack your bags, Cardinal Dolan.

Speaking of anti-gay, this is the same Andrew Cuomo who in 1977 led the effort of his father, Mario Cuomo (D – NY), in the Democratic primary for mayor against Ed Koch (D – NY) by plastering the borough of Queens with signs reading, “Vote for Cuomo, not the Homo.”

Andy’s evolved.

Not to be outdone, U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D – NY) refined the attack to zero in on the Tea Party.  He picked up on the theme of too many elected Conservatives and proposed a plan to rig state primaries so Tea Party backed candidates couldn’t win.  Schumer complained that Republican primary elections favored Tea Party activists because they turn out in droves to participate in the electoral process.  He called for more states to adopt a “blanket” type of state primary in which all candidates from all political parties compete in one election and the top finishers advance regardless of party affiliation.  According to Schumer:

“It would force the most extreme candidates in Republican districts to move closer to the middle to pick up more moderate Republicans and independents.” 

Note that the Senator did now say how this would force extreme Democrat candidates to the center in search of moderates.  Could it be that there is no such thing as a moderate Democrat?

Schumer then went on to call for more IRS scrutiny on the Tea Party to weaken it by curtailing its funding.

“It is clear that we will not pass anything legislatively as long as the House of Representatives is in Republican control, but there are many things that can be done administratively by the IRS and other government agencies—we must redouble those efforts immediately.”

Schumer, by the way, made his remarks in a 51-minute speech before the ultra-leftist, IRS-tax-exempt Center for American Progress.

Which brings us to the newly minted Mayor of New York City, Bill de Blasio (Sandinista — NY).  His Honor broke away from his planned remarks before the U.S. Conference of Mayors last week to say he supported Gov. Cuomo’s proclamation about the state’s all-blue political purity, and that red outliers had no place there.  The mayor was feeling his oats and obviously happy to be away from the botched snow plowing fiasco from a well-expected winter storm.  The distraction kept him from facing the same snow removal media criticism that ruined the career of his predecessor John Lindsey (R – NY) and gave a black eye early in the tenure of Michael Bloomberg (Nurse Ratched – NY).

These New York pols were talking political smack.  They likely were having a good giggle poking at the Tea Party because it lacks nationally recognized leaders and platform to defend itself.  And the media coverage provides the illusion of relevance.

Interestingly, the aftermath of their coordinated calls to make New York the New Nuremburg attracted neither a wave of outrage from Conservatives nor interest from fellow New Yorkers.  They took the news of the incendiary comments with a Big Apple yawn.  Perhaps that’s because from the moment it was founded in the Seventeenth Century, New York has been the safe harbor for undesirables escaping the same kind of political intolerance and philosophical purity called for by the Governor, the Senator and the Mayor.  Nothing symbolizes this migration to the Empire State more than the refugees who fled Nuremburg.

Nuremburg was the unofficial capital of Germany from the late Eighteenth to early Twentieth Centuries because it was considered the most “Aryan” of the German locales.  The historic center of Bavaria, Nuremburg in art, architecture and influence epitomized the foundation of Germanic culture, racial purity and the epicenter of the Thousand Years Reich.  The city was codified in the legends of German heroes, in the writings of pan-German Junkers and the fat-lady-singing operas of Wagner.

It was Hitler’s favorite city.

In their solitude, when the TV cameras and microphones are unplugged, when the political roadies and consultants have gone home, I can’t believe Cuomo, Schumer and de Blasio really think of New York as the political and cultural epicenter of American Progressivism.  All three boast they are defenders of diversity, so how can they possibly want their State and City to have the same unpolluted social order Bismarck and the German leadership of the 1930s and 1940s had chosen for Nuremburg?

When I heard their clownish remarks, I chuckled and thought what most New Yorkers probably were thinking: “They really don’t mean this . . .”

“Do they?”

I did not watch the State of the Union Address mostly because I do not like watching a liar insult my intelligence.  This is not a slight to President Obama since I have not watched a state of the union address for the same reason since President Reagan graced the Oval Office.

Without even watching it I know the hubris in President Obama’s speech was just as thick as the gunk from the Republican’s response.  I did read the speech online and was not disappointed I missed the theatrics of applause lines and adults pretending they are real.

How anyone could believe President Obama is beyond me.  We know he is lying the minute his lips start moving but that is true of every politician.  He talks of the income inequality between the “rich” and the “poor” conveniently forgetting to add he made the chasm wider with his policies.

After five years of Obamanomics can he really believe the economy is George Bush’s fault?  Estimates indicate more than 19.4 million more Americans joined the food stamp program since Obama took office.  At the same time, more than 6.7 million Americans entered poverty since the coming of Obama.  Rather than give us a plan to help make the poor richer he wants to make the rich poorer.  Redistributing wealth only works in the Robin Hood fairy tale but not real life.

I may have missed it in his speech but did the president mention how he planned to rectify the debt per capita for Americans that is now at $54,688.  I guess he could evenly distribute that figure among the top one percent of earners and call it a “Punishment for Success” fee.

The president loves to spend time on social issues because they are emotional and require no thought.  What is he doing about the trade imbalance we have with China?  How has he addressed– pardon the oxymoron – his free trade policies that allows China to be protectionist but costs Americans jobs?  It is easy to call the opposition party names but a real president tackles issues that move the country forward.

Speaking of forward, this president has done more to set racial relations back than any other president – even the Republican presidents the media will have you believe were racist.  African American economic fortunes have gone down since he took office.  But he is an equal opportunity destroyer.  His tax policies prevent disposable income from ever growing which perpetually slows the economy so all Americans suffer.

I think Peter Morici, an economist, said it best “The president dodges responsibility for the failures of his ideological agenda by asking Congress to tax the “one percent” for simply exploiting conditions he created.

As a Catholic I’m told every day in the media to respect and tolerate other religions.  The media delights in positioning the Catholic Church as an archaic institution that hates women and wants to impose its will on the masses.  That same media gave the Obama administration when it imposed its will on the masses in the guise of helping those without healthcare.

The same media that tell me my views belong in the Neanderthal age gives a pass to a certain religion that won’t allow women to walk in public without being covered. Or, conveniently forgets to mention that other religions are OK with men killing their daughters or wives for shaming the family by talking to other men.

The Politically Correct Mafia goes out of its way to strip me of my ability to publically acknowledge my Catholic holidays yet says nothing to other religions that worship openly.  As an aside, I find it interesting that Christmas is more about a fat man delivering toys than the birth of Christ and Easter is about a rabbit delivering eggs rather than the resurrection of Christ.  Why does society not put a pagan tradition to Hanukah, Yom Kippur, or Rash Hashanah?  I am not advocating that, in fact I am glad the Jewish religion is not affected in that manner.

The Catholic Church gives medical care to one out of five Americans.  It teaches three million students a day, in its more than 250 Catholic Colleges and Universities, in its more than 1200 Catholic High Schools and its more than 5,000 Catholic grade schools in the U.S.

Every day, the Catholic Church feeds, clothes, shelters and educates more people than any other organization in the world. Estimates indicate there are more than 77 million Catholics in this country.

I think 50 million Catholics need to go to the polls in 2014 and be united in replacing all Senators and Congressional Representatives with someone who will respect, not only the Catholic Church, but also all Christians, and all Religions.  And while we are at it, I think we need to stop supporting all media outlets that do not respect us.

She led the effort by the IRS to violate nine of the 10 protections in the Bill of Rights for Tea Party organizations and conservative groups. (I guess she feels quartering British troops is OK.)

Then her name kept popping up in memos with instructions to the IRS’s Cincinnati team on how to stall and thwart applications by these groups for non-profit status with bewildering requests for more information.  (“Please provide the Third Grade report cards for everyone in your group, as well as everyone in the county where you reside, highlighting their recorded grades for Penmanship.  The same for their parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.”)

She gathered private and protected information on financial supporters of these groups including tax information, and illegally turned it over to the Federal Election Commission.

When a Congressional Oversight Committee called for her to explain, she cloaked herself in the very Constitutional protections she abused in others by pleading the Fifth.  Then, without so much as a “See ya’, have a happy life,” she bolted the hearing room, leaving Committee members, staff and the entire country aghast wondering what the hell happened.

Oh yes, she then went on administrative leave at full salary ($143,000) and in September officially retired from the IRS with a $50,000 a year taxpayer-funded pension with full benefits.

She’s none other than Lois Lerner, a career bureaucrat and serial civil rights violator.  In recognition of her unfathomable hubris, her Stalin-like treatment of fellow citizens with opposing political views and her unreported efforts for the re-election of President Obama in 2012, (I’ll connect the dots in a moment.) I am naming Ms. Lerner winner of the 2014 Darwin’s Hemorrhoid Award.

The Darwin’s Hemorrhoid Award, the first of its kind and the first for this blog, recognizes the previous year’s most vile, dark and abhorrent actions contributing to the devolution of the civil society.  Ms. Lerner narrowly beat out James Clapper, National Intelligence Director who before Congress denied that the National Security Administration was spying on American citizens and that he had the phone taps and confiscated emails to prove it.  Attorney General Eric Holder tied for third with Necrotizing fasciitis, the flesh-eating bacteria that ravaged a hospital in New Zealand and killed several people in this country last year.

Ms. Lerner deserves this award not only because she supervised the full-throttled government attack and repression on the freedoms of Barak Obama’s political opposition, but also because her actions had repercussions so widespread, it literally won Obama reelection.

Keep in mind that the IRS team evaluating applications for non-profit status that she managed was based in Cincinnati, a city in Ohio, the state Obama had to win for reelection.  By jerking around the Tea Parties – especially those in the Buckeye state – and delaying their applications as non-profits, they were prevented from systematically organizing with one another on campaigns (violating their Freedom of Peaceful Assembly) sharing information (violating their Freedom of Speech) and spending on issues advertising, (That dang Freedom of Speech again) not to mention supporters’ right to privacy. (See U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Griswold v. Connecticut, 1965 – That is until Chief Justice John Roberts mucks it up.)

Keeping the conservative opposition in Ohio fragmented and underfunded tipped the balance of influence in the 2012 presidential election toward Obama who won the state by only two percent, thus securing the necessary electoral votes for victory.

Mission accomplished, Lois.

Today, Ms. Lerner walks the streets unscathed, protected by Eric Holder’s Justice Department that throughout 2013 repeatedly refused requests from Congressional committees to turn over incriminating documents.  And to add insult to injury, as a government retiree, she is exempt from Obamacare and entitled to keep her taxpayer-funded Cadillac health insurance plan.

You may say others deserve the Darwin’s Hemorrhoid Award, so let’s look at the list of the runners-up and see why they couldn’t measure up (or sink lower) than Lois Lerner.

• President Obama  —  Even though his promises about people’s choices under Obamacare earned him the “Lie of the Year” from the website Politico.com, 2013 was an unproductive year for the president.  He scored no legislative achievements other than getting the compliant mainstream media to blame Republicans for his own refusal to negotiate with them for a budget deal, which eventually led to a government shutdown.  The government shutdown, however, affected nobody other than government workers deemed “unessential”.  Thus his limited impact in 2013 put Mr. Obama out of consideration.
• U.S. Senator Henry Reid  —  Understandable selection, but you have to be alive to win the award.
• Alec Baldwin  —  Truly, an irritating presence; but outside New York City, nobody cares about Alec, apparently not even his credit card commercials.
• Hillary Clinton  —  Like Sargent Shultz of “Hogan Heroes” fame, Hill was the “I-see-nothing” Secretary of State when Ambassador Christopher Stevens begged for more security around the American consulate in Benghazi when it became apparent Al-Qaeda-affiliated groups were targeting the compound for an attack on the anniversary of September 11.  Instead, State reduced its security contingent and she’s never been held accountable for a reason, leaving it to middle management to explain – and take the heat.  And when asked in Congressional hearings why she insisted that a Benghazi flash mob killed Stevens and three other security personnel in retaliation for an American producer’s unflattering video on the life of the Prophet Muhammad – despite knowing all along it was a lie — she screeched the immortal, “What difference does it make!?”  But that was in 2012 and ass-saving lies to the Clintons are as normal as ocean water to sharks.  Hill wisely kept a low profile in 2013 and so she took herself out of the running for the award.  No need to worry.  We expect greater and unparalleled reprehensible things from the future presidential candidate that will doubtless catapult her to the lead in future years.
• Kanye West and Kim Kardashian  —  Just as we take a mental shower and leave them behind, they figure out a way to get back in our faces.  On the irritation scale, they are more a case of recurring acne rather than hemorrhoids.
• Miley Cyrus  —  She was chafing when she was Hanna Montana.  But she taught us what the word ‘twerking’ meant and that counts for something.  What I don’t know.
• Bob Costas  —  The irritation prowess of this dean of NBC Sports is legendary.  His anticipated verbal flatulence and mind-numbing perspectives in the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics could give him the edge in the running for the 2015 award since he’ll have a global audience.  Look for the oversized turtleneck, the tweed sports jacket, and puns that would make a buzzard puke.
• John Boehner  —  2014 may be the last year for the Speaker of the House to make a run for a Darwin Hemorrhoid.  While he proved his mettle as a nuisance in 2013, he accomplished little, preferring instead to hand Democrats victory after victory despite polls that showed his opposition way out of synch with the American people.  The 2014 midterm elections will be a watershed, though.  Expect him to be replaced as Speaker in 2015 and we shall hear from him nevermore.
• Kim Jong-un  —  An up-and-comer, but even his tag-team partner Dennis Rodman couldn’t give him the gravitas for a 2013 consideration.
• Dennis Rodman  —  LOL.
• Alex Rodriguez  —  Drugs and dirtbaggery alone were not enough to move Alex into the Top Ten Hemorrhoids.  Besides, injuries and his lawyer kept him mostly out of the public eye in 2013.
• Cecile Richards  —  Forgot about her, but she was never under consideration.  Cecile is the president of Planned Parenthood, an organization that in 2013 orchestrated the deaths of 327,166 children still in their mothers’ wombs.  The website Redalertpolitics.com reviewed Planned Parenthood’s 2012 annual report and calculated that if the organization treats an estimated 3 million people annually as claimed, then abortions represent 11 percent of its services, not the 3 percent it falsely claims.  Cecile in 2013 used the “only 3 percent” argument to silence the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops who objected to mandatory coverage of abortions in Obamacare for institutions, like theirs, who view it a violation of their religious beliefs.  The website also reported that Planned Parenthood last year received almost half of its $540.6 million revenue from taxpayers via the federal government, and it banked $1.5 billion in net assets.  It’s hard to believe any of this would be irritating to Darwin.

Apparently a traffic jam on the George Washington Bridge is more egregious than four people dying in Benghazi.  Why else would Democrats scream for a Federal Prosecutor to investigate what and when NJ Governor Chris Christie knew of lane closures on the bridge between New York and New Jersey.

Months after the Benghazi scandal there is no Federal prosecutor assigned to investigate the same questions of President Obama.  In fact, there is no Federal Prosecutor to investigate the IRS scandal, the Associate Press leak investigation, the bullying of the Fox reporter.  Heck, there are so many of them t’s hard to keep count but you can read a list of them here.

The media has dubbed Christie’s mess Bridgegate (what else) and it centers around the September 9 lane closures of three local lanes in Fort Lee onto the George Washington Bridge.  The lane closures lasted until September 13 and created massive traffic jams.

No one at the Port Authority informed Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich of the lane closures and promptly ignored him for a week. Conventional wisdom says it was political retribution because the mayor did not support the Governor’s re-election campaign.

It always comes down to pettiness with politicians.

There is no need for a Federal Prosecutor for this and there is no need for one to investigate the myriad of laws Obama has broken. Why bother? They are all crooks and we keep electing these fools to office.  It is time for change and we are the ones who theoretically can make the changes.

Political hubris occurs every time a politician opens his or her mouth. The rise and downfall of all politicians follow the same pattern.  A bright-eyed candidate wants to make a difference and enters the political arena.  Once elected the desire changes from doing the job to getting re-elected.

Along the way, the politician starts building a powerbase and before long they are so insulated they believe their hubris and, worse yet, believe themselves to be untouchable.  They think they are above the law and above the Constitution.  Guess what?  They are wrong.

Unfortunately, their staff members start believing they are also above the fray.  How else can anyone explain Christie’s deputy chief of staff, Bridget Anne Kelly, sending an e-mail to the Port Authority stating “time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee.”  It rolls downhill, so Kelly was fired for her actions becoming the next fall guy in a long list of fallen guys.

Voters forgive everything except arrogance.  Christie is bombastic and arrogant but New Jerseyans love him because – well, we’re bombastic and arrogant.  Obama is no different in the arrogance department but replaces bombastic with disdain for the Constitution.  Unfortunately, they are the current poster children for politicians gone wild.  Every politician is the same.  They sold their souls for votes while convincing themselves it is a means to an end.  The only problem is along the way, their end game moved from the people to their pockets.

This episode should be yet another “Lessons Learned” moment but other politicians are secretly thinking it won’t happen to them because they are above it all.
