Loneliness
Some read books through the endless night,
Praying tomorrow will be all right
Others talk through the sleepless hours,
hoping their words still carry power.
Some bury pain in familiar routines,
while others hide behind glowing screens.
They wear a smile to cover the cracks;
a trembling soul hides behind the act.
Loneliness is like a hollow breath,
A fading pulse, that resembles death.
It wears the mask of indifference
and slowly erodes significance.
But worst of all, beneath the distress,
loneliness answers loneliness.
Some spend their days polishing their cars,
and drown their nights in dim-lit bars.
While others laugh a little too loud,
hoping to vanish inside the crowd.
Some hold their silence buried deep,
while others wake when the world should sleep.
They build small walls for self-protection,
and hide themselves behind reflection.
Loneliness is like a hollow breath,
A fading pulse, that resembles death.
It wears the mask of indifference
and slowly erodes significance.
But worst of all, beneath the distress,
loneliness answers loneliness.
