Convenient memories should not be allowed without corroboration

If the standard to determine guilt relies on a person’s convenient memory then what is to stop a similar fuzzy memory from exonerating a person?

First, Dr, Christine Blasey Ford came out of the woodwork to claim Supreme Court Nominee Judge Kavanaugh attempted to rape her 35 years ago in high school.  She remembers who and what but where and when are not completely in her memory banks.

Of course, it just so happens that the where and when can be corroborated with actual proof while the who and what are simply one person’s story.  But, why quibble?

Now we have another woman stepping out of the shadows who claims Judge Kavanaugh exposed himself to her in college.  Deborah Ramirez, says she explicitly remembers it was Kavanaugh but admits she does not fully remember the alleged incident because she was intoxicated at that time.

So, she remembers who and what but, again, all other details are a bit fuzzy.  People need to stop drinking at high school and college parties so they can preserve these memories.  The Democrats, media, and anyone who is against Judge Kavanaugh’s appointment believe these women.

They do not believe the 65 women who signed a letter defending Judge Kavanaugh.  They do not believe the woman who contradicts Ramirez’s account of the alleged incident.  They do not believe Judge Kavanaugh.

Likewise, Republicans, Conservatives not named Flake, and anyone who is in favor of Judge Kavanaugh being appointed to the Supreme Court believe Judge Kavanaugh and those defending him and not the two women who lack evidence.

What if the women with no evidence are telling the truth?  How often have we’ve seen innocent people destroyed because no one believed them?  Lyricist Kerry Livgren sums it up best “The years will steal away our youth; a lie can change but not the truth.”

There is no way anyone can determine with any certainty who is telling the truth.  The truth will not change but the truth as defined by politicians in this case depends on what side of the aisle you are on.

I do not believe the two women or Judge Kavanaugh will have a fair trial.  They’ll make their respective cases but everyone already has made up their minds and we are simply waiting for the circus to begin.

The track record for women who come forward with hopes of toppling powerful men is not good.  Just ask Juanita Broderick, Kathleen Willey, Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, and Bobbie Williams.  Ask Anita Hill.

They had their day in court…..but at what cost?

Interestingly, the women who had the most evidence against their assaulter –former President Bill Clinton – had their lives destroyed far more than the one with no evidence against Justice Clarence Thomas.  Anita Hill had her memories.

Justice Thomas likened his day in court to a “high tech lynching.”  The Democrats are getting the noose ready for Judge Kavanaugh.

Judge Thomas is a Supreme Court justice and Judge Kavanaugh hopes to join him.  But at what cost?

The agenda driven media and politicians do not care about collateral damage

The closest Spartacus ever came to having a Cory Booker moment came in 73 BC when he was caught cheating on a test in Gladiator school. His friend Oenomaus called him out for cheating but Spartacus quoted Jesus saying “He who has not sinned can cast the first stone.”

Of course, he was quoting Jesus 73 years before His birth but it’s that type of Vulcan Mind Meld trickery that apparently passed down to Senator Booker.  In an article the grandstanding senator wrote in 1992, he referenced an epiphany moment in 1984 when he was rebuffed trying to get to second base with a female friend.  In it he references a quote from the movie Top Gun.  The only problem is Top Gun was released in 1986 – two years after his moment.

It seems Senator Booker’s habitual lying was prevalent even back in college or it could be he was trying to connect the dots with the benefit of hindsight.  He was writing the piece in 1992 and harkening back to his other moment not associated with Spartacus. Through the prism of time it is easy to associate lessons learned in one year with an event from another year.  It’s also a good writing device.

My guess is somewhere in the next week either Dr. Christine Blasey Ford or Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh will suffer a similar instance.  When you try to remember something from 30 years ago, chances are you are going to include things learned, felt, or believed throughout the 30 years and not necessarily at that specific point in time.

If Dr. Ford does it the media will be understanding, forgiving, and even serve as apologist.  If Judge Kavanaugh does it the media will circle like sharks around blood.

Regardless of what is said or any surprise “proof” I’m sure Dr. Ford’s lawyers will suddenly find and not share with anyone until the hearing, this stall tactic will only be a he said/she said.  The Democrats want to smear Judge Kavanaugh and are already talking possible impeachment if he gets confirmed.  The Republicans want nothing more than to smear Dr. Ford but are hamstrung because they do not want to appear to be against the #Metoo movement.

It should be good theater but at the expense of the reputations of two individuals.  Dr. Ford will forever have a legacy akin to Anita Hill.  If she created her own mess than she cannot complain about her perception in history.  If she is being used as a pawn than the ones making the moves deserve a special place in Hell.   Personally, I do not think George Soros’ money is worth eternal damnation but that’s just me.

Unfortunately, for Dr. Ford there is no time, place, or witnesses to her story.  That will not stop the Democrats from acting like each word she speaks is a smoking gun.

I am curious though. If the standard for the Democrats to destroy another human being’s life is a person’s word, then is having actual proof grounds for dismissal from the Congress?  I ask because the woman who accused U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., of domestic abuse released a medical document from 2017 detailing how the congressman abused her.  The Democrats, apparently unfamiliar with what proof looks like, yawned and ignored it.

Congressman Ellison is still in Congress able to abuse how many other women he pleases because it seems #Metoo only applies if the perpetrator is not a Democrat.  The woman, Karen Monahan, claims the Democratic Party “smeared” her and threatened to isolate her over her allegations against the Ellison, who, by the way, happens to be the deputy of the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

I’d decry the hypocrisy of politicians but we already know that a prerequisite to be a politician are lying, cheating, hypocrisy and arrogance.  The only problem is this week they are destroying the lives of two Americans but the agenda driven media and politicians do not care about collateral damage.

The truth is attacked by all sides of the agenda

In the middle of the ring stands truth.  In the other four corners we have agendas.  The truth is fighting this battle alone against many agendas.  In fact, there are so many competing agendas the truth gets lost in the shuffle.  And that is exactly what politicians want.

So here we have what seems like a decent man in Brett Kavanaugh being destroyed by ideologues intent on pushing their will despite logic, truth, and justice.  And, isn’t it ironic that justice is lost when picking the next supreme court justice.

Where to start?  Where to start?

We have Senator Diane Feinstein who waits until the eleventh hour to produce a letter from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford accusing Kavanaugh of attempted rape 30 years ago.  This information was so important that Senator Feinstein held it for two months before releasing it. She even publicly admitted that she is unsure whether the allegations are true.

Dr. Ford vividly remembers Kavanaugh attempting to rape her but does not remember exactly where or when or who else was there other than one of Kavanaugh’s friends who refutes her story.  She demanded to have a hearing and the Senate Judiciary Committee granted her wish but she is now refusing to appear unless an FBI investigation happens first.  It must be nice to dictate to a senatorial body.

Then we have Dr. Ford’s attorney’s, Lisa Banks and Debra Katz, channeling Michael Avenatti and using Dr. Ford to advance their own agenda.  They are positioning Dr. Ford as a victim of rape and a victim of the bully Republicans who agree to hear Dr. Ford’s allegations but they claim it’s an unfair to put her in such a position.  They conveniently forget they asked for the hearing.

The Republicans are not innocent in this.  They are pretending to be sensitive to Dr. Ford’s accusations in this #Metoo era but are really posturing to prove her claim frivolous and false. In fact, Senator Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, was kind enough to offer Dr. Ford to be heard in a closed session or said he would go to her at a location of her choice.  Dr. Ford refused and Senator Grassley thinks he fooled people that he was being caring and understanding.

The Democrats and their allies in the media are blowing this out of proportion and demanding an FBI investigation.  Liberals say everyone believes a man when he comes forward with allegations against a priest 30 years ago but women are ridiculed for waiting too long.

That’s a nice sound bite but, as usual with politicians, it misses the point.  The only reason the media and politicians believe the men is because it is against the Catholic Church.  The media loves attacking Catholics almost as much as Trump supporters.  Plus, the Catholic Church admitted guilt in some of those cases.

Kavanaugh has maintained his innocence.  All his colleagues – including those with vastly different viewpoints – have lauded his jurist prudence. Corroborating “evidence” in this case is not only sketchy but it’s non-existent.  If Dr. Ford cannot remember who else was at the party or where the party was at the time of the alleged attack, what is the FBI going to investigate.

The lawyers say a Senate hearing will only be a “He said/she said.”  Without witnesses, a location, a time, or any substantive evidence what do the lawyers think an FBI investigation will be? Democrats say they do not think Dr. Ford should appear before the committee because Republicans “appear to have made up their minds.” That is so rich coming from a group that opposed Kavanaugh’s selection minutes after he was announced as President Trump’s nominee.

Republicans are accusing Democrats of “delay and obstruction … with every argument available.”  They should know, just as Judge Merrick Garland how his supreme court candidacy turned out in 2016.  It seems Republicans are getting a taste of their own medicine.

All this nonsense boils down to a simple truth.

Democrats will stop at nothing to delay a supreme court appointment before the November elections.  They do not care who they use or what movement they trample to get what they want.  Republicans will stop at nothing to have a supreme court justice in place before the mid-term elections.  They are steadfast on pushing their candidate through even if it means there is a slight possibility the man is a molester.

Meanwhile, a man’s life is being destroyed.  A woman’s life may have been destroyed before she really had a chance to get started but is certainly now in complete disarray.  Democrats and Republicans are locked in an epic battle of stupidity and have only themselves to blame. And a nation gets more cynical, frustrated and disillusioned with each passing day.

That combination led to the election of President Trump.  If the political ruling class is not careful the next election will bring even more change.  I certainly hope so!

Is it a crime to confess to a crime that is not a crime?

Just when you thought politics could not get any nuttier enter Senator Cory Booker, from New Jersey, to prove you wrong.

During the confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh this past week, Senator Booker, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, made a spectacle of himself by claiming he was going to release confidential documents from the committee about Kavanaugh in defiance of Senate rules.

The punishment for such an action – if it were real – is expulsion from the senate.  During his grandstand moment, Senator Booker gleefully compared his act as his “Spartacus moment” and dared senate members to punish him.  It was great theater.

And much like all theater, it wasn’t real.  Senator Booker received permission to release the documents he claimed were confidential hours before his stunt.  It was clearly a way for Senator Booker to raise his profile as he prepares to be a presidential candidate in 2020.  I guess he can always choose Colin Kapernick as a running mate.

Or, maybe he figured he’d get an endorsement deal from Nike if he actually did get thrown out of the Senate.  All he did was prove what a sad, pathetic man he is and may have created a new disease for the terminally inconsequential – Attention Desperation Syndrome.

It’s one thing to jeopardize your job for real and quite another to pretend your jeopardizing your job while safe and secure.  Maybe he learned the best way to lie while flying with Hillary Clinton on that helicopter when she was taking fire?

He should have thought twice about the idea.  Not protecting classified documents certainly didn’t help Clinton get elected.

Senator Booker continued insisting he broke the law this past weekend during a press conference in New Brunswick, NJ, where he sustained the charade.  Meanwhile, the Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee are claiming the documents were no longer classified and, as such, there was no crime committed.

Think about this for a moment.  We have a Senator claiming he committed a crime and trying to provoke his colleagues of the opposing party to expel him.  At the same time, you have members of the opposing party exonerating him.  Whatever happened to the good old days when members of the opposing party worked to keep you out not keep you in?

Wrestlemania couldn’t come up with a better plot.

Senator Booker also pretended this was an act of civil disobedience no doubt trying to channel Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a true person of character. I bet in his you he masqueraded as King Jr. on Halloween and, if so, that is the closest he’ll ever get to being a man of character.

I have always maintained I want politicians willing to lose an election to stay honest to their core principles versus pandering for votes.  With that pretext, I would have respected Senator Booker’s act of civil disobedience if the documents were actually confidential when he released them.  I would not have agreed with his actions and called for swift expulsion but at least the man stood for something.

It is plain to see Senator Booker only stands for what is good for Senator Booker.  Unfortunately, that is par for the course for all politicians.

As the Fourth Estate crumbles it has no one to blame but itself

Most of us expect and accept politicians to lie. As George Carlin once said “their level of insincerity is astonishing” It’s not right.  It’s sad. But such is life when dealing with politicians.

What we do not expect and should never accept is our media lying to us.  Enter CNN. At the end of July, CNN ran with a story that Michael Cohen, President Trump’s personal lawyer, claimed then candidate Trump knew in advance of a Trump Tower meeting with Russian officials.  The story cited an anonymous source.

The source confirmed Cohen was willing tell Special Counsel Robert Mueller that President Trump knew of the meeting in advance, contradicting repeated denials by Trump and his surrogates.  This, of course made headlines with a media so intent on bringing President Trump down that it’s forgetting the first rules of journalism.  Get three sources – make that credible sources.

The Washington Post recently uncovered the anonymous source was none other than Lanny Davis who is now Cohen’s lawyer but has long been connected with the Clintons.  In fact, Davis was the Clintons’ “fixer.”  Using Davis as a source is inherently dangerous because any good reporter would know he has an agenda.

A funny thing happened on the way to the truth.  When the Washington Post pushed Davis for proof, he suddenly had an awakening and admitted he “could not independently confirm what happened.”  For those of us familiar with the truth, that means Davis was backpedaling from a lie.  He obviously intended to grab headlines and damage President Trump.

The trick is to come out with salacious details about something which will get coverage but most news organizations seldom, if ever, give the same type of coverage when the initial news item is not what it appeared.

He certainly grabbed headlines but the only damage he did was to himself.  Good luck with Cohen trial.  How or why would a jury trust him?

However, worse is what CNN did, or didn’t do.  CNN came out and stood by the story.  News flash to CNN: When the source you used for a story basically tells you he made it up, it’s time to apologize and move on.

CNN has not done that and all indications are it has no intention of getting the truth out to the public.  The truth may be out there for the X-Files but not so much for CNN.

Their collective hatred of President Trump and their obviously biased coverage of his presidency is now on full display.  No one can deny their coverage is anything but anti-Trump.  And the irony is they are actually proving President Trump right about the media. In addition, their actions will only help get him re-elected.

They are playing right into his hands and single-handedly destroying the Fourth Estate.  They will blame him of course for referring to the media as “the enemy of the state” but they are earning that title.

How can anyone trust or believe anything CNN reports?

I think the media needs to have an adversarial relationship with the government providing the news is real, the facts check out and the coverage is fair.  Watergate was a great example of journalism at its best.  That reporting relied on facts not opinion.  It brought to light corruption through careful reporting not careless innuendo.

The biggest shame is Carl Bernstein, a pillar of journalism at one point, was a reporter on this Lanny Davis debacle.  He has fallen as far down as CNN.  The pillars are falling.  Is the entire media next?  If so, they have no one to blame but themselves.  They’ll blame the deplorable and President Trump but the truth is it’s their fault.

If politicians won’t do the will of the people, the will of the people should be to remove them

During his 1995 State of the Union address, President Bill Clinton received a bi-partisan standing ovation for his tough talk on illegal immigration. He opposed it. In fact, he said:

“…our administration has moved aggressively to secure our borders more by hiring a record number of new border guards, by deporting twice as many criminal aliens as ever before, by cracking down on illegal hiring, by barring welfare benefits to illegal aliens.”

In 2006, President George W. Bush said “We’re a nation of laws, and we must enforce our laws.”  He laid out a five-point plan to reform the immigration system.  Chief among the plan was a major investment in border security, including doubling the Border Patrol by the end of 2008 and temporarily deploy 6000 National Guard troops.

The plan also offered what many considered a rational middle ground between granting an automatic path to citizenship for every illegal immigrant and a program of mass deportation.  President Bush also ended “catch and release,” the practice of picking up illegal aliens and then releasing them on their own recognizance until their deportation hearing.  I know this will surprise most of you but not many illegal aliens showed up for their hearing.

During President Obama’s 2013 State of the Union address he said “Real reform means strong border security, and we can build on the progress my administration has already made — putting more boots on the Southern border than at any time in our history and reducing illegal crossings to their lowest levels in 40 years.”

He also talked about “real reform means establishing a responsible pathway to earned citizenship — a path that includes passing a background check, paying taxes and a meaningful penalty, learning English, and going to the back of the line behind the folks trying to come here legally.”

We all know President Trump opposes illegal immigration and his desire to build a wall to make illegally crossing the border that much harder.

In each case, the party out of power opposed the sitting president’s rhetoric and plans. For those of you keeping score at home that means Republicans oppose strong borders and deportations when Democrats are president and Democrats oppose strong borders and deportations when Republicans are president.

Is it any wonder most Americans do not trust politicians?

Most voters do not change their view on illegal immigration depending on which party is in power. It seems the only ones changing their stance on illegal immigration are the ones trying to get our votes.  And, in all cases, the choice is for strong borders and deportations.

It is therefore reasonable to interpret this behavior as a sign that most Americans want strong borders.  If that is the case, the politicians should stop wasting our time and do the will of the people.

The sad truth is politicians are not in office to do the will of the people, they are in office to build their empires.  With the November elections coming up I suggest we vote out all incumbents and send our own message.

The media should be charged with assault and battery on free speech

There is an assault occurring every day that no one seems inclined to stop.  It’s not a physical assault but it probably will do more damage.

Sarah Jeong is a tech writer for the New York Times who recently came under fire for racists tweets she made four years ago.  She tweeted she enjoys being “cruel to old white men.”  Of course, the main stream ignored her transgression as “derogatory and offensive comments.”

This same media had a completely different approach for Roseanne Barr who made equally offensive and derogatory comments but they were deemed racists so she lost her TV show. Double standard?  Of course; but we’ve come to expect that from the media.

Athletes have also been attacked for past social media posts and booed mercilessly when they appeared on the field.  In each case, the media called for their heads on a platter and we were treated to the obligatory apology stating they are no longer the people they were when they wrote the posts.

You know what?  They are right?

I do not think Jeong or any of the athletes should be “punished” for opinions they held long ago.  It gives us a glimpse of who they were not who they are.  What Jeong thought in 2014 has no bearing on her writing for the New York Times today.  If we see a bias in her writing today that reflects what she thought a few years ago, then the New York Times needs to come down from the high horse and act.  Until then, who cares what a tech writer thought about white people?

And that is the assault.  It is the double standard on our right to free speech.  The media will hold everyone to task that does not share their philosophical view.  They give a pass to those that agree with them.  Look at the way the media celebrates the University of Berkley when it prohibits a conservative from speaking on campus but is outraged if a conservative college prevents a liberal from speaking.

A vast majority of the populace despises that double standard and the media is oblivious to that small detail.  In fact, the media believes, and portrays, that segment of the population as “undesirables.”  The more it does it the more popular President trump will become.

I am not a fan of the manner President Trump chooses to express his dissatisfaction on social media.  It’s not presidential in my mind but it’s his right to express himself the way he sees fit.  I think President Trump is so popular among his followers because he expresses a frustration with the media how many wish they can.

That and he gets away with it.  For example, he allegedly referred to some African nations as a “s**thole.”  That episode blew over.  Xenia Orona, a campaign staffer for a leading Democratic candidate for governor of Arizona, resigned her post after a conservative blog uncovered social media posts she made calling America a “s**thole.”

I do not agree with Orona but she has the right to her opinion.  I do not think her opinion of America should warrant her losing a job. I think if she should lose her job if she is incapable of doing her job or her opinion of America affects her ability to do the job.  And I think the blogger is a jerk for bringing up irrelevant information.

Conservative and Liberal media personnel should stop trying to destroy those they do not like and start providing information so the rest of us can make up our own minds!

Politicians should adopt an illegal immigrant program

I propose all politicians in favor of immigrants entering our country illegally partake in an “Adopt an Illegal Alien” program. They can stand at the border and pick an entire family crossing the border to make sure children are not separated from their parents.

Participation in this program requires the sponsoring family to bring the illegal alien family into their home and take care of them free of charge.  This includes paying for all medical and school costs as well as making sure the illegal aliens find jobs. It also includes holding the politician accountable in case the illegal alien breaks the low.

A caveat for Republicans is they cannot use the illegal aliens as domestic servants or landscapers.  We do not want to take jobs away from the illegal aliens currently in their employ.  Democrats will not be allowed to have them vote twice or three times in upcoming elections.  We do not want to meddle in our election process.

Hey, if the “Adopt a Highway” program works why not use the same concept for illegal immigrants.

I also propose we make the program even stronger by borrowing an idea from the teen drinking liability laws that puts a parent in jail if their underage child is caught drinking.  If the illegal alien commits a crime the sponsoring politician must go to jail.  It’s the only humane thing.  This way we will not separate illegal immigrant parents from their illegal immigrant children.

This will kill two birds with one stone.  Society can hold someone accountable for the actions of another while having the extra added benefit of taking another politician out of the Nation’s Capital.  It’s a win-win.

This idea will also save the taxpayers a boatload of money.  The sponsoring politician is responsible for the illegal immigrants housing, food and bills.  We can then use the money saved on harboring criminals to helping our homeless veterans who actually earned a break.

I think two things may happen if we implement this idea.  First, after living with a politician for about a month, most illegal immigrants will run back to their country of origin.  Second, after living with an illegal immigrant family and seeing the reality and not the romanticism of people looking for a better life, most politicians will be in favor of the wall and actually work towards true immigration reform.

If you don’t like that idea I have another one.  We can hire all illegal immigrants to build the wall.  Think about that for a minute.  No.  Not the irony of it, the beauty of hiring cheap labor to complete a job no American wants to do. That’s genius.

The only place you will find “fair” is in the dictionary

Early in my freelance writing career I covered the municipal beat for several area towns in NJ.  I loved the Zoning Board and Planning Board meetings because hypocrisy at its finest always showed up in the form of neighbors not wanting something in their back yards.  It was OK for a telecommunication companies to build cell towers across town but Heaven forbid if a cell tower came within 200 feet of their property line.

We had a name for these people….Liberals.

The hypocrisy is unbelievable.  Liberals rail at the “Russians hacking the 2016 election” yet had no issue with President Obama actively campaigning against Benjamin Netanyahu.  The Obama administration sent $350,000 in taxpayer money to an organization called OneVoice to fund an anti-Netanyahu campaign.

My Liberals friends will quickly tell me supporting a candidate is different than hacking an election.  In true Liberal fashion, this is true when the words are parsed.  When Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein announced the indictment of 12 Russians for hacking and getting into the DNC (Democratic National Committee) servers in 2016 he plainly said the election result was not affected.

His statement was: “There is no allegation in this indictment that any American citizen committed a crime. There is no allegation that the conspiracy changed the vote count or affected any election result.”

Why is this important?  Because the media and Liberals are misleading the public when they use the term “hacked the election.”  When we hear that term we immediately think the Russians were able to get into our voting machines and stuff the ballot.

However, what Rosenstein actually said was the Russians were able to get into the DNC computer network and steal 500,000 voters’ information.  They then try to sway votes, not change votes.

Tell me again how that is different than President Obama openly campaigning against Netanyahu?

Why are Liberals not accused of hacking all elections with their continued efforts to get 25 million illegal aliens to vote.  The Democrats want 25 million non-citizens to vote in our election and the media does not consider it affecting an election.  Yet the media is beside itself over 12 Russians getting 500,000 names because some in the DNC fell for a phishing scheme.

According to a report in The Hill, San Francisco is issuing voter registration forms to non-citizens with children so they can vote in local school board elections.  This is the first step.  The next step will be getting illegal aliens to vote in state and federal elections.

I can hear it now, Democrats will say it isn’t fair to allow illegal aliens to vote in school board elections but not local, state, and federal elections.  Democrats do not care about the plight of these families.  They care about their votes.

At some point, we need to tell Democrats if they want fair they need to look in a dictionary.  It’s the only place they will find it life.

While the Mets clean house perhaps they should start with the manager

Ken, my cousin-in-law, believes I’m an idiot.  His beliefs are well-founded as I steadfastly stuck to my prediction of the Mets winning 92 games this year.  A casual look at the standings reveals the Mets have a record of 32 and 46 with 84 games remaining.  That means they need to go 60 and 24 to accomplish that feat.  That’s a .714 winning percentage for those of you scoring at home.

Now that I see it on paper, I agree with Ken.

A season that had such promise when they started 12 and 2 has gone horribly wrong.  In typical Mets fashion, they achieve perfection in things going wrong. From the majority of the team visiting the disabled list to setting Major League Baseball records for futility, the Mets are a traveling freak show.

This team can’t even participate in a brawl properly.  When was the last time you saw benches clear for a hug?

Making matters worse is Mickey Callaway trying to position the non-fight as a good way to spark life into the team.  Someone needs to tell the hay seed from Cleveland hugging is not fighting.  Full disclosure: I did not like his hiring.  I thought he came off disingenuous and whenever a team continually harps about how impressive someone is I get the feeling they are trying to convince themselves not me.

His whole spiel about caring about the players as people also seemed off tune.  In fact, his whole approach seems contrived.  I prefer people who are true to themselves and not trying to maintain an aura.

He has mis-managed the bullpen and seems clueless of game situations with his decisions. Heck, he can’t even submit the right lineup card.  His inconsistency was painfully obvious during the game last night.  He pulls Robert Gsellman after 13 pitches because “he didn’t have it” but stays with Jeurys Familia when everyone in the ball park and watching at home knew he did not have it.

Everyone, of course, except Callaway who blissfully sat there oblivious to the oncoming crash.

Callaway has also made several blunders with the press.  First whining that New York is a hard place to play and then again last night with a snarky response regarding “how baseball works” when trying to explain his Familia decision.

Hey Mickey. This is how employment works in New York:  Perform and you keep your job.

He seems like a nice man but completely over his head.  Once again the Mets put someone in a position to fail be it a player, coach or manager.  The Wilpons get what they pay for but the fans are paying for the Wilpons. Callaway does not seem ready to manage yet alone manage on a stage as large as New York.  Perhaps he needs to talk to Joe Torre or Terry Collins.

Actually, he needs common sense.  The best way he could have gotten the fans and media off his back was to start his after game press conference by simply acknowledging he screwed up.  “Let me just start by saying I blew that one.  That’s on me.  I was not thinking but this is what I’m going to do to make sure it doesn’t happen again….”

Boom. Done. Most people love those who hold themselves accountable and loathe those who think they are smarter than the average bear.  Just ask any Liberal.
