The Quiet Journey

Time Runs Out

Staring at the ground,
he sits folded in his chair,
as breath becomes more memory than air.
The body thins to bone,
but the mind begins to wander.

He recalls the hours
spent trying not to waste time,
as if life were a ledger to balance.
Yet the moments he rushed past
were the ones that held his name.

Working late to finish another climb,
his wife waited inside quiet evenings.
While he chased horizons,
his children became their own.
He mistook motion for meaning.

Now as seconds loosen their hold,
he sees success was only a mirror,
reflecting the man he thought to be,
not the one beneath the noise,
not the boy who once felt wonder.

As the final light softens,
regret gives way to vision.
The life he sought was never ahead,
it was the voice within the wind
calling him back to himself.
