Contradiction of Heart
Inner turmoil to do what’s right
Avoiding truth throughout the fight
Claiming victim to reach delight
Expelling conscience out of sight
Guilt inhabits our daily lives
Stones with daggers and other knives
Insecurity next arrives
Within the void is where it thrives
I know the path that’s lit with grace,
Yet shadows call with sweet embrace.
A fleeting joy, a lasting cost
Each step I take, a moment lost.
Desire calls with velvet tone,
It tempts the heart to walk alone.
But in its charm, the soul may bleed
A hollow win, a poisoned need.
Failed again in every way
Feeling alone, nothing to say
Seeking a chance above the fray
There’s always hope, another day
